It’s Happening Again

The Experimental Stage Reunion

Sponsored by the UMD Alumni Association

One day I got lost going to my next class, and then I just started wandering through the endless, mindless halls. There was nothing to give me direction, nothing to show me the way. There was just nothing at all around me to show where I was supposed to be. It was only numbing repetition, just more and more of the same. And those halls they just kept on going, they kept on growing, just ongoing endlessly away.

But then I saw an odd little flyer. It was so silly, so stupid, so dumb! It was just a weird little picture with only a time and a place. I was confused. What could it mean? The date on the flyer was soon and my mind began to think. What could be there? I started to wonder as I found more flyers around. It was intriguing. It was mysterious and I just knew, I had to go.

So on that date, I went to a building I’d never been and joined with others like me who had just wandered in. And inside a room people were sitting and listening to someone sing. And when she was done there was clapping. Then someone else spoke and suddenly there was drumming and some folks that just started dancing. There was laughing and a little more singing. It was all quite amazing and inviting; so cool and so much fun. It was everything that was missing from those endless mindless halls. It was finally some direction and it was all thanks to a flyer and a building we had just wandered in; someplace weird and wonderful and great. Somewhere that we had all found together that totally changed our lives forever. Something simply called :

the Experimental Stage.
